Clone Roses

Through working in manchester and surrouding areas shooting live music events, i had the chance to do some photography at King Georges Hall in Blackburn for The Stone Roses tribute band The Clone Roses, also for this i managed to secure an extra two passes for Sean Taylor and Julie Holt from my year group.

for this i created myself a brief to follow for the evening as can be read below.

The Summer of 2012 saw Manchester legends ‘The Stone Roses’ reform for a series of memorable shows, most noticeably 3 nights at Heaton Park in Manchester. The band then toured around the world for the rest of 2012 and then played three UK shows in 2013 in London & Glasgow.

For fans who want to re-live those memorable summer nights of 2012 and 2013 there is surely only one option. The Clone Roses are the closest thing you will find to recreate the look and sound of these shows. The Clones have been gigging all over the UK for the past 15 years and to pay tribute to the Roses’ comeback, they have updated their show. They have managed to acquire the same instruments and exact same clothing as The Roses’ recent shows and the setlist is almost identical to the Heaton Park gigs. They include all the classics in their set such as ‘Waterfall’ ‘Made of Stone’ ‘This is the One’ and of course ‘I am the Resurrection.’

Still not sure? Inspiral Carpets keyboard player and XFM Manchester DJ Clint Boon has described them as the best Roses tribute in the business, and if your after a second opinion then why not get it from the horses mouth as Stone Roses bass player Mani said ‘ I can’t believe its not butter, the second best Stone Roses in the world.’

Blackburn band the Lebrels are an indie – rock band who include Artic Monkeys, The Libertines and Stone Roses as their influences. They supported The Clone Roses in November 2014 here at King George’s and we’re delighted to welcome them back.

Meet 19:15 outside the hall (doors open 19:30) to meet me and collect photo passes.

Produce a body of high quality images of both bands performing live on stage and any other shots you feel add to this.

No flash photography is allowed inside the venue

Image production may be limited to the first 3 songs of both bands, will confirm this on the night with the venue / bands

Images to be ready by Sunday 3pm in jpeg format of full size and 300dpi and sent to me via a web based platform, this can be a facebook or flikr etc link to the album as the images will remain yours, this is so I can send to the band and if they use any on social media you WILL get credited for it, if they want to use any for other use I will put them in touch with you to agree mutual terms.

here is a gallery of the images i produced on the night in the 3 hours I spent there.
